I wish I had a better understanding of what I am doing:

I downloaded the development sources.

I typed

  ./configure --with-gcc --with-pop --with-x --with-x-toolkit=athena

which should be appropriate for our system.

Then I run

  make bootstrap

Then `./temacs --batch --load loadup bootstrap' gives me the error message

....
Loading help (source)...
Loading international/mule-cmds (source)...
Invalid coding system: iso-latin-1
make[1]: *** [bootstrap-emacs] Error 255
make[1]: Leaving directory `/nfs/tfkp00/winkler/.Datadir/Pocket05/emacs/src'
make: *** [bootstrap-src] Error 2

I wish I knew how to proceed.

Roland
