We are changing Rmail to use inbox format, and this bug is very
likely to disappear as a consequence. So I don't think we should
spend hours hunting for it. If someone does find it, of course,
we may as well fix it now.

I agree with you. Any idea on when inbox format support will be
ready? MIME support? Other than these 2 issues, I really like RMAIL.

Changing RMAIL from `mail' to use Gnus's `message' would make it
support MIME on composing, at least. Message is supposed to be
compatible with mail. Gnus has a generic MIME library for decoding as
well, but I guess it is slightly more work to get RMAIL to support
MIME decoding using it.

I can't make such predictions--my crystal ball is cloudy today.
But someone is working on it actively.
