FYI, and in case wider discussion is needed, I just filed bug #16354
to request that we move `dired-omit-mode' in Dired mode from `M-o'
(via Dired X) to some other key, such as `C-x M-o'.
`M-o' should be reserved for face/font-lock stuff, everywhere.
