Hi,
I recently installed emacs 22.1 (i386-precompiled mingw) and decided to try
using gnus as an RSS reader using the same "method" I have been using for a
long time using Outlook Express. Namely I run the nntp//rss local server
(under Sun Java SE 6) and set the nntp server to `127.0.0.1' . I am pleased
that it works nicely.
I know there is an RSS reader capability built in to gnus but I am used to
reading my newsfeeds in a newsreader just like one reads Usenet posts.
One security disadvantage of this setup is that port 119 is opened in the
firewall while nntp//rss is running.
For the link to nntp//rss go to : http://www.methodize.org/nntprss .
Now if I could only get emacs to print on my HP Deskjet. I have read other
posts in this NG and see that it can be awkward to get emacs to print. I
don't have a postscript laser printer installed, just an HP inkjet.
