Subject: No Font Dialog
Date: Tue, 16 Nov 2021 09:29:30 +0100 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <12044860.KDboQtbVQW@localhost.localdomain> (raw)
Hi!
struggeling with a high dpi screen on a new computer. Linux, 5.14., KDE,
wayland (distro: opensuse, tumbleweed).
I thought that increasing the font size of Emacs might help.
If I click in the menu bar on Options/Set Default Font... , the usual font
dialog doesn't appear, only a »Font Menu« with »Misc«, »Courier« and »Font
Set«.
Every time in a terminal I get the notice:
»(emacs:9468): Gtk-WARNING **: 09:13:00.966: no trigger event for menu popup«.
Doesn't work in a gnome session either.
So it seems there is something wrong with my self compiled Emacs, or is it a
bug?
»(pgtk-backend-display-class)« gives: »"GdkWaylandDisplay"«.
Building emacs (branch feature/pgtk) or from here:
https://github.com/flatwhatson/emacs
Result:
»GNU Emacs 28.0.60 (build 2, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.24.30, cairo
version 1.16.0) of 2021-11-15«
Configure:
»./configure --with-dbus --with-gif --with-jpeg --with-png --with-rsvg --with-
tiff --with-xft --with-xpm --with-modules --with-native-compilation --with-
json --with-imagemagick --with-libsystemd --with-pgtk --with-x-toolkit=gtk3«
I'm aware that this might be slightly wrong, but until recently it worked.
Result of configure:
»Configured for 'x86_64-pc-linux-gnu'.

So is this a bug or a mistake by my way of compiling emacs?
By the way, I can start emacs with readable letter with
»GDK_DPI_SCALE=1.7 emacs &«
And I installed the package default-text-scale from melpa, which also helps.
So fortunately I can do my work.
Kind Regards,
Alexander
