Subject: ispell-word automatically adding word to abbrev, like flyspell?

Hi all, when using flyspell, there is an option to automatically add
the mispelled word and its correction to the abbrev list, so that it is
automatically corrected by emacs next time this spelling mistake is
made. That's fantastic, but it doesnt work in tty terminals which I
have to use when away from the office. Can one make ispell-word (which
does work under a terminal) do the same? thanks...
