I suggest the Rmail Output node in the manual mention the
rmail-automatic-folder-directives variable as well as
rmail-output-file-alist.
(Sorry if already done in pretest, I just looked at 23.3.)
Thanks,
k

The latter is already documented, has been for years, in that very
node. Is it possible that you look at some very old Info manual?
As for the rmail-automatic-folder-directives, to document it in the
manual, we need first to describe the "folders" notion. It is
currently completely omitted from the manual.

And btw, I think this is completely unrelated to rmail-out.

Anything's possible, but what is actually true :) in this case is that
my use of "as well as" was evidently ambiguous. What I meant was "in
addition to". (But I agree with you that that is likely not the right
node, after realizing better what rmail...directives does. Not that
that reduces the need for documentation.)
I had no idea that "folders" were anything but normal mbox files.
Are they something something else? Looking at rmail.el, that seems to
be what is happening as a result of rmail...directives. I mean, it
ultimately just calls rmail-output.
Anyway, whatever, it was just a small suggestion.
