There is a fundamental difference between logical and pedagogical order.

If I may quote Minsky's Turing lecture

|There is a real conflict between the logician's goal and the educator's. The

| path. The educator (rightly) wants to make the paths short and doesn't mind-in 
| fact, prefers-connections to many other ideas. And he cares almost not at all

The emacs manual may be logically structured.
It is not structured to be inviting to a noob -- whether of Drew's or of 
Stefan's variety.

Joe Noob has a need that is completely covered in chaps i,(more likely i,j,k)
of the manual. How does he go from his need to chaps i,j,k?

Lets say that dired and even better wdired is exactly what he needs. How is he
 going to find that out?
