I'd rather see some profile runs first that show where in some typical (tm) native-compiled ELisp program how much time is spent. I personally was actually suprised by how much native compilation makes Emacs feel fast, because my gut feeling was that ELisp programs spend most of their time in C anyway. Everything having to with buffer-text manipulation, searches, text-properties, the list goes on... Even buffer-local bindings, coming to think of it. Anyway, profiling would be interesting, I think.
