All the world over, I will back the masses against the classes.
When a flirt fishes for a man, she fishes merely for the sport.
A certain amount of opposition is a great help to a man. Kites rise
 against, not with, the wind.
To me -- old age is always ten years older than I am.
Much ingenuity with a little money is vastly more profitable and amusing than much money without ingenuity.
All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together.
We may find in the long run that tinned food is a deadlier weapon than the machine-gun.
My candle burns at both ends it will not last the night but ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -- it gives a lovely light!
Upon the education of the people of this country the fate of this country depends.
It is the fate of the great ones of this earth, to be appreciated only after they are gone.
Speak of the Devil and he appears.
Let's win one for the Gipper.

The business of America is business and the chief ideal of the American people is idealism.
Innocence most often is a good fortune and not a virtue.
Whatsoever one would understand what he hears must hasten to put into practice what he has heard.
You get out in front -- you stay out in front.
When the game is over it is really just beginning.
Depression is the inability to construct a future.
If we love our country, we should also love our countrymen.
Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we may diet.
The knowingness of little girls hidden underneath their curls.
Happiness adds and multiplies, as we divide it with others.
Evangelical faith without Christian ethics is a travesty on the gospel.
Living is a sickness to which sleep provides relief every sixteen hours. It's a palliative. The remedy is death.
The mind is lowered through association with inferiors. With equals
it attains equality and with superiors, superiority.

The successful man doesn't use others, other people use the successful man, for above all the success is of service.
Change alone is unchanging.
Why don't you want to do what you know you should do? The reason you don't is that you're in conflict with yourself.
Lukewarmness I account a sin, as great in love as in religion.
Great and good are seldom the same man.
In life, as in football, you won't go far unless you know where the
 goalposts are.
What makes lovers never tire of one another is that they talk always about themselves.
Civilization must be destroyed. The hairy saints of the North have earned this crumb by their complaints.
The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted.
I am bewitched with the rogue's company. If the rascal have not given me medicines to make me love him, I'll be hanged.
If you're already in a hole, it's no use to continue digging.
It's the last inch that counts.
Belief consists in accepting the affirmations of the soul unbelief,
 in denying them.
Without the meditative background that is criticism, works become isolated gestures, historical accidents, soon forgotten.
No excellent soul is exempt from a mixture of madness.
You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give.
