i'm a newbie, but even for a newbie, i don't know much.
to the point that if there's some simple thing i'm supposed
to know, and should tell you about, i don't know what
that thing is.

i just built emacs-21.3. i run it. it writes the file.
then it:
on sparc: seg faults
on intel: core dumps.

the file is there. but if i try to byte-compile *.el
files, the file gets written and instantly deleted.

ahhh, yes, forgot: solaris 9. gcc.

configure --without-pop --x-includes=/usr/include \
    --x-libraries=/usr/lib --without-toolkit-scroll-bars

gcc 3.4.1

what the heck am i doing wrong?

j.
