This is not a font issue. If Emacs doesn't know that the file is
encoded as UTF-8 you'll see several iso-8859-* character instead of a
single character. Stefan's suggestions (`prefer-coding-system',
`file-coding-system-alist') should help Emacs 21 to recognize it
correctly. (AFAIK, Emacs 22 handles automatic UTF-8 recognition
better than Emacs 21.)
