Hi,
I've recently synchronized my cygwin setup to all of the
latest versions of the cygwin software. Although emacs itself
was not updated. The changes, of which I can't remember, seem
to coincide with my cygwin emacs spiking the load on my
windows 2000 machine on bootup. It just hangs as if it was in
        a loop.

        Any clues?

I've also tried to start emacs with the -q option.
This did not help.

There are some discussions on cygwin mailing list about this issue,
you should go and take a look. Basically, the latest released
cygwin.dll (?) has some problem (there is also saying they
cygwin-emacs binary has some problem that might be related). There are
some cygwin.dll snapshots in the past week avaiable that reportedly
fixed the problem (an infinite loop somewhere), but I will just wait
untill the next cygwin release, and use NT-emacs in the meantime.

This mailing list is available through your newserver on the
gmane.org newsgroup. The name of the group is

   gmane.os.cygwin

http://gmane.org will show you that this server was started and
is being maintained by Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen. The Gnus author.

It is a great service. With it, I find I am starting to rid
myself of all the pop-downloading for mailing lists, and
concentrating most of my mail organization efforts on my personal
mail.
