Hi,
How do I take a buffer (shell-mode) out of buffer-list so that it
can never be selected? I'm looking for something more permanent
than bury-buffer.
Thanks.

`C-x k' (`kill-buffer')? Or what exactly do you want to achieve?
Or maybe it is enough for you to rename that buffer to a name starting
with a space? Emacs considers this buffer as "hidden" then.
