I have done as below but not sure if it is the right way.
Although it works.

(add-hook 'texinfo-mode-hook
  (custom-set-faces
     '(font-lock-variable-name-face ((t (:foreground "green"))))
     '(font-lock-builtin-face ((t (:foreground "green"))))
  )
)
