hi group,

a few days ago i checked out the cvs code for emacs and compiled. now
running 22.0.91.1. so far no problems, just one well-intended feature that
i find annoying... it used to be (emacs 21.4) that when i attached to a
running emacs with emacsclient, the emacs window would stay where it is. in
the new version, the emacs window is brought forward, and in doing that
changes the virtual desktop it is on.

the problem with that is that the programs that i have in constant use
(such as emacs) are all on their own virtual desktops, so that i can switch
to them with a quick key press (Alt-1 through Alt-8) and i don't have to go
hunting for them whenever i need them.

of course, when emacs decides to pop up on another desktop, that no longer
works... so is there a way to make emacs stop doing this? the
documentation of server-start and of emacsclient don't mention anything,
and google didn't turn up much either. (i also didn't find anything in
the code of server.el, but i only took a cursory look at it...)

TIA

joost

Try customizing `server-raise-frame'.

ah, thanks. probably would have found that if i had remembered that emacs
calls them frames, not windows... ;-/
