Hmm, there is nothing suspicious in the log. Everything looks like it
should.

Could you, please, try the same ftp commands from a shell? That means,
connec to wwwtest@localhost, and apply the following ftp commands in
the same order:

hash
pwd
ls "-al /." /tmp/ange-ftp20665UjO
quote mdtm /
ls "-al /public_html/." /tmp/ange-ftp20665WlK
quote mdtm /public_html/
ls "-al /public_html/class_readmail/." /tmp/ange-ftp20665jvQ
quote mdtm /public_html/class_readmail/
quote mdtm /public_html/class_readmail/www-data
quote mdtm /public_html/class_readmail/www-data
type binary
get /public_html/class_readmail/www-data /tmp/ange-ftp20665w5W
type ascii
quote mdtm /public_html/class_readmail/www-data
quote mdtm /public_html/class_readmail/www-data

Please check the file /tmp/ange-ftp20665w5W afterwards, whether it is complete.
