The escape key on my laptop no longer works.  This obviously seriously limits my emacs usage ability.  Any way I can get around this?

You could also probably "unread" the ESC key event upon pressing
some other key (such as F1?) See the "unread-command-events" variable.

Maybe bindings in key-translation-map would help, too.
