AFAICT the code always saves at the same place where it loaded it.
So if it finds and loads ~/.emacs.d/.emacs.desktop, then it will
save there.

maybe try:
- exit Emacs
- mv ~/.emacs.d/.emacs.desktop ~/workspaces/
- start Emacs
