Yes, like all Emacs variants, Aquamacs does work on Intel-based Macs.
Not sure which Emacs variant still supports a Mac OS X version that runs
under PowerPC (the issue is mostly one of OS, not one of underlying
processor). If you have a PowerPC-based Mac, IIUC, you're either
running Mac OS X ≤ 10.5.8 (i.e. a 6 years old OS), or you've upgraded to
GNU/Linux (in which case you can use Emacs with its usual X11 GUI).
