I use Company for text completion. Have seen Corfu but I am unsure what it does
exactly. It seem to provide command completion in the minibuffer rather than
text completion. Is this so?

Looked there already. Whilst it mentions in-buffer completion with a small
completion popup and how its counterpart is the Vertico minibuffer UI.

It does not say what type of completion it does. Vertico is for command emacs
completion completion in the minibuffer. Is Corfu the same? Does anyone use
Corfu?

Well, it provides all the info you are asking for, so... It starts with
"Corfu enhances in-buffer completion with a small completion popup", and
under "Alternatives", it says: "Company: Company is a widely used and
mature completion package, which implements a similar UI as Corfu", and
then goes on to explain the differences between Company and Corfu, which
are all technical in nature.

Yes.

Looks like Corfu can do both text completion (similar to Company) and mini-buffer
completion (similar to orderless).
