I've written code to import Mozilla email settings.
Not sure whether noword is better than catdoc, but there may be even
more elisp interfaces to import MS Word.

There's code to import/export pdf, rtf, html & export postscript.

Is there sufficient interest or help to bundle these, and create a
standard import/export library?
