Narrow down your init file by bisecting it recursively. That will
tell you which code is responsible for the problem. Then show us
that code (or some of it), if the problem and solution is not
clear to you at that point.

The nil value might be the result of an evaluation. Without seeing
some code it is difficult to guess what the problem might be (but
perhaps someone has a good crystall ball for this).
