Is there a way to count the number of lines as they would appear
on the screen (i.e. taking into account line wrapping, if any)?
For instance, a line that took up 100 (non-tab) characters in the
buffer, and the current window width was 80 characters, would
correspond to a screen line count of 2.
Thanks!

Try count-screen-lines from window.el.
