I tried to install JDE on Ubuntu using "sudo apt-get install jde" and
got the following error.
Need to get 0B of archives.
After unpacking 0B of additional disk space will be used.
Setting up jde (2.3.5.1-2) ...
Error in `/usr/share/doc-base/jde', line 1: the first line does not
contain valid `Document' field
dpkg: error processing jde (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
jde
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
And I checked the "/usr/share/doc-base/jde" file. Well, the first line
does not contain "Document"; the 2nd line does.
So, after edit the file and move the 2nd to the first line, I did the
apt-get again. But then I got tons of errors (see below). Is there an
easy way to install JDE
using "apt-get", or I have to download all the required components of
JDE (eieio, semantics...)?

You could possibly try an apt-get remove jde --purge and try apt-
getting again.... probably won't fix it though.
Is your emacs installed from ubuntus repositories or from source?

I did try to apt-get remove jde and re-try it. But got the exact same
problem. As to my emacs, I got it from Ubuntu's "Application -> Add /
Remove Application" menu.
