Building CVS on Mac OS X.3 (Panther)

Building CVS on Mac OS X.3 (Panther)

Good morning all - 

I just grabbed the sources for emacs from CVS this morning (10 Nov 03)
and built it like so (texinfo installed):

 ./configure --with-carbon --without-x
make bootstrap
sudo make install

It appears to build and install correctly.  I get this when running:

[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:/usr/local/bin] name% /usr/local/bin/emacs
Fatal error (6).Abort
[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:/usr/local/bin] name% 


I can, however, call it like this:


[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:/usr/local/bin] name% /usr/local/bin/emacs -nw

and it works (terminal mode).  

Any idea what could be wrong??  Seems like trouble with the native UI.

Any insight is appreciated.  TIA

For the gui version either run Emacs.app via 'open' or run
Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs directly.

thanks for this. i had the same problem.

and the whole situation is a bit  mislleading, because in /usr/local/bin
there is this hardlink to "emacs. so you would assume that you could just
call it...
