Hi everyone, pardon my emacs ignorance but I am having some difficulty
in doing the following: editting my .emacs file so that emacs open
with two windows but the bottom window is shorter than the top. I am
using (split-window-vertically) which seems to split the window up but
after that I can' seem to change their sizes. I would also like to
have the first windo black with white writing and the second one white
with black writing. I though I could use defualt-frame-alist and
initial-frame-alist for this but I'm obviously getting some thing.
These may seem like a ridiculous layout but it's the one I'm used to
and I would love to recreate it in emacs so I can do away with all my
other editors for once and for all. Here is my .emacs file, it's
hacked from lots of stuff I found on the net:
(custom-set-variables
;; custom-set-variables was added by Custom.
;; If you edit it by hand, you could mess it up, so be careful.
;; Your init file should contain only one such instance.
;; If there is more than one, they won't work right.
'(cua-mode t nil (cua-base))
'(default-frame-alist (quote

(foreground-color . "yellow")
(background-color . "black")
(font . "-*-Courier-normal-r-*-*-13-*-*-*-c-*-iso8859-1"))))
'(scroll-step 10)
'(scroll-up-aggressively 0.5)
'(transient-mark-mode t))
(custom-set-faces

(fset 'yes-or-no-p 'y-or-n-p)
(setq initial-frame-alist
'((cursor-color . "white")
(width . 300) (height . 600)
(cursor-type . box)
(foreground-color . "white")
(background-color . "black")

(setq default-frame-alist
'((cursor-color . "white")

(cursor-type . box)

(split-window-vertically)
(other-window 0)
(set-frame-height (selected-frame) 40)
(progn
(if (fboundp 'tool-bar-mode) (tool-bar-mode -1)) ;; no toolbar
(menu-bar-mode 1) ;;no menubar
(scroll-bar-mode -1) ;; no scroll bar
)
(set-fringe-mode 10)
(add-hook 'term-setup-hook #'(lambda () (w32-send-sys-command ?
\xF030)))
Any ideas?
Rory.
