Subject: red dot / B in gdb mode (ver. 23.1.1)

Hi,
I upgraded to Emacs 23.1.1 on my OSX by downloading source and
compiling. Now, in gdb mode, when I set a breakpoint, I do not see the
red dot or character B on the line where I set the breakpoint. Things
work fine when I go back to ver. 22.1.1.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Sumit.
