Subject: nntp open error: ''?
Date: Fri, 7 Mar 2003 16:51:29 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <Pine.LNX.4.44.0303071644310.1406-100000@alice> (raw)

M-x gnus gives me this message in the minibuffer:

nntp (news.freeserve.net) open error: ''. Continue? (y or n)

my ~/.gnus contains:

(setq user-mail-address "jjl@pobox.com")
(setq user-full-name "John J. Lee")
(setq gnus-select-method '(nntp "news.freeserve.net"))

Pine uses that same server, with no problems.

Any clues?

John
