Version 21.4 (and maybe some earlier versions) of emacs shows vertical
black lines on the left and right side of the whole emacs frame. Is
there a way of removing these lines?
Thanks,
Levent

(when (facep 'fringe) (set-face-background 'fringe (p-back palette)))
(defadvice set-background-color (after sbc-fringe last (color-name) activate)
(when (facep 'fringe) (set-face-background 'fringe color-name)))
You can also customize-variable fringe-mode and set it to "No fringes".

They are called ``fringes´´ and their use is documented. Could be a
(fringe-mode "none")
makes them stay away.
