* emacs character/glyph problem @ 2006-12-28 13:27 rpm13 2006-12-28 13:33 ` Peter Dyballa 0 siblings, 1 reply; 4+ messages in thread From: rpm13 @ 2006-12-28 13:27 UTC (permalink / raw) My emacs is not showing any normal (ASCII) characters but only rectangles. The startup message comes normally but anything else I type or which emacs displays in the echo area is only rectangles!! Whether this happened when I upgraded from ubuntu dapper to edgy or due to something else I am not sure. Any clues what I can correct?? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/emacs-character-glyph-problem-tf2890323.html#a8074677 Sent from the Emacs - Help mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

Search for this in the eMail archives. It's a debian problem with uncommon places to install fonts in. I wonder why these debian based or derived Linux distributions can't handle their stuff properly ... -- Greetings <] Pete o __o |__ o recumbo ___o /I -\<, |o \ -\),-% ergo sum! ___/\ /\___./ \___...O/ O____.....`-O-'-()--o_________________ ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

I've certainly had no problems with Debian Testing. I also thought it was a problem with a pre-release version of ubuntu and not an "official" release, in which case minor glitches like this are to be expected.
