With a little bit of tweaking you should be able to make this work without entering your password very often and by keeping the environment of your user. Even though Voidtools runs as Administrator, it should run your Emacs (or any other program) under a more restrictive account. My suggestion should help you to accomplish that. I would try to setup an Windows batch file (.cmd) and call= the "runas" executable specifying a different user. With a littl= e bit of tweaking you should be able to make this work without entering you= r password very often and by keeping the environment of your user.

Even though Voidtools runs as Administrator, it should run y= our Emacs (or any other program) under a more restrictive account. My sugge= stion should help you to accomplish that. This is really a question for the= ir support site...

I doubt it's related to the fact that Everything is not ope= n (well free
regarding the price).

Another tool such as locate could certainly work, though it's not
straightforward to set up under Cygwin, and locate's contents is only u= pdated
every once in a while.

Everything, on the other hand, is always fully up-to-date. You move a file,= it
already knows about that. Very practical.
