But the formal parameter isn't used in the `interactive' part of your code:
(defun atomic-position (flag)
(interactive
(list
(completing-read "flag: " '("alat" "angstrom" "bohr" "crystal"

This makes it difficult for me to adapt the above code to a
multi-parameter situation.
