The org-manual is not really crystal clear about this, but here you go: http://orgmode.org/manual/The-date_002ftime-prompt.html#The-date_002ftime-prompt basically, you can move around in the calendar using: shift + an arrow key. Also you have the entire calendar mini language at your disposal.
