This is true, and experimentation a good thing in the short term. In =20= the long term though, a proliferation of branches just confuses people =20= because no one's sure which is the official branch. Our lives are =20 more difficult too because of the python-mode.el/python.el split. So I encourage you to experiment and get user feedback. Old-timers =20 (and remember, python-mode.el's been in widespread use for 15 years) =20 will be wedded to their muscle memory, but if you introduce a user-=20 visible change that people like, they can be made configurable with =20 defaults providing the old behavior. Then it will be possible to =20 merge your changes back into the official branch. If you modularize =20 your changes, then the less controversial ones can get merged in sooner. -Barry --Apple-Mail-26-797681928 content-type: application/pgp-signature; x-mac-type=70674453; name=PGP.sig content-description: This is a digitally signed message part content-disposition: inline; filename=PGP.sig content-transfer-encoding: 7bit -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (Darwin) iQCVAwUBSfmmnnEjvBPtnXfVAQKT1AP8CGAQLmhpuhB/tMO6EMizwfl5+0xBqu5t hGfuh7EJyP3o/hmVUb3lHWqJiq7z+LeZwNWSnBPxWun0uadWa9+QCl+FbmWU9puH frjQ4RGGZesoRW/tqYpK/ish/0WSEgafQlPAXQpYUiir/prEll5CnwDvU0mCOgAw WYd4F2pjRJI= =fWKg -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Apple-Mail-26-797681928-- --===============0047997601== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ Python-mode mailing list Python-mode@python.org http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-mode --===============0047997601==--
