Now it's 2006 and the OS is probably Solaris 9 or 10 -- could be some
interface has changed since the days of Solaris 2.6.
Can you check with a more recently compiled GNU Emacs, or a more
recent version of GNU Emacs for your OS' recent version? There are
some public places to download *packages* of software that are easily
installed and de-installed ...
