after using ediff i get the following errors after hitting "y" to
confirm "Quit this Ediff Session":

i'm using emacs23 from cvs, but same behavior in emacs22. any
suggestions how to solve this?

Unless this error persists when running emacs -Q, it's likely a bug in
your .emacs.
It looks like you might have added an incompatible function to a hook.
Look for ediff and hook in your .emacs.
