Is it more likely a bug in Ubuntu 9.10 when---I only ever have an Xterm,
Emacs in an Xterm and Firefox running---I lose focus, probably in some
god-only-knows garbled key combination, and then Alt + tab through the
apps on my desktop to regain ... or 23.92.1?

Shoot. `... lose focus ...' even though the frame says otherwise: the
Emacs frame is the one highlighted. So then I Alt + tab my way through
to regain focus.
On another planet not including that.
