Yes, and good dependency management through a package manager could
avoid such problems. I lately learned that the new MSYS will even
deliberately break binary compatibility, and I expect a whole new bunch
of problems (not so much for me, because I know where to look by now,
but for my colleagues at work which depend more and more on free
software on Windows).
