Set all faces to one face.

Then set all faces one by one whenever that face appears.

See '?' in comments for seemingly (?) strange things.

This method is so good!

I discover faces I never knew were employed all the time,
maybe because there were identical to the default face thus
"invisible".

Just found `w3m-italic'. Setting all these lost faces will
make my Emacs even cooler. The reason to exists has
returned ;)

Mathematicians and computer folks can be made happy with simple
things. The first ones when something adds up to three (or, who
knows, pi squared divided by six), the others when they see a
turtle crossing their screen.

That's right :)

But some faces that I notice with this method disappears when
I kill emacs and start it again. For example:

  sh-escaped-newline

which still hasn't reappeared.

And this

  w3m-form

produces an error on startup, however now it has reappeared
and I can set it again. Let's see if adding

  (require 'w3m-form)

to the faces file [1] will remedy the situation.

Yes, that did it. Now the "why needed?" `require' list is

  (require 'erc-button) ; why needed?
  (require 'erc-match)
  (require 'w3m-form)

Note that there are several other w3m faces that don't need
any require.

Did I require everything necessary in my previous init?
Is that the reason I don't need to require anything, except
for these three lines, despite setting 90 faces in that file? [1]

Another thing that I don't understand are the ispell faces
that are currently not set or set to something undesirable,
maybe they slipped thru when I set all the faces to red, even.

Because if they aren't here (accessible) now, why would they
have been, then?

Anyway in ispell.el there seems to be several faces, e.g.

  ispell-highlight-face

on line 147.

However when I do `describe-face' it just says [No match] like
it isn't there, and I cannot change it either for probably the
same reason...

Another face that isn't even affected by my function [last] to
set all faces to one color is `gnus-server-closed', no idea
why. `require' the file, as in (require 'gnus-srvr) doesn't
help. A fully autonomous face I guess... other faces for Gnus
are affected, including the close (?) `gnus-server-opened'.

(defun set-all-faces (fg &optional bg weight)
  (let ((faces))
    (mapatoms (lambda (s)
                (when (facep s)
                  (push (symbol-name s) faces) )))
    (dolist (f faces)
      (set-face-attribute (intern f) nil
                          :foreground fg)
                          :background (or bg "black")
                          :weight (or weight 'normal)) ))
;; (set-all-faces "red")

Oh, I had that configured! [last]

But ... does that configuration make sense? It looks like I'm
just setting everything to ... the way it should be?

Anyway it looks good so I guess I shouldn't fix it :)

(setq gnus-server-line-format "%3=%h: %w %30=%s\n")

;; (setq gnus-server-font-lock-keywords nil)
(setq gnus-server-font-lock-keywords
      '(("(\\(agent\\))" 1 'gnus-server-agent)
        ("(\\(closed\\))" 1 'gnus-server-closed)
        ("(\\(denied\\))" 1 'gnus-server-denied)
        ("(\\(offline\\))" 1 'gnus-server-offline)
        ("(\\(opened\\))" 1 'gnus-server-opened)
        ("\\(.*:\\)\\(.*\\) "
         (2 'font-lock-comment-face)) ))

You need to "load-library ispell" first, then Emacs will know about
ispell.el faces.

Found it,

  (require 'sh-script)

will do it.

Now the only '?' that remains is w3m-tab-selected,
w3m-tab-selected-retrieving and w3m-tab-unselected that are
configured backwards, you state the foreground as background
and foreground as background...

That and ispell...

This code, almost to the letter, is already in gnus-srvr.el,
lines 240-246. Don't know who stole it from who, or if several
people rote it and it appeared independently from each other,
just like civilization!

Anyway that means I just have to do:

(setq gnus-server-line-format " %0{%8h%}: %1{%13=%w%} %30=%s\n")

(push '("\\(.*:\\)\\(.*\\) " (2 'font-lock-comment-face))
      gnus-server-font-lock-keywords)

One should be able to specify faces in
`gnus-server-line-format' just like for other Gnus format
strings but I don't get it to work. Well, nevermind.
