Only the new buffer ha= s *rescan* Ok, now I see the problem: the list produced by imenu--make-index-alist contains two elements: ("*Rescan*" . -99) is the first, and the second is a list whose car is "defun" (or for your file presumably "headings") and whose cdr is the list of strings from the matching elements (defuns/headings) in the file with their positions. What you want to loop over is just the latter list. So it should work if you use this in vodil-imenu-bfh: (let ((imenu-items (cdadr (imenu--make-index-alist t))) ...) ...) Steve Berman
