No, I don't think it's worth it. Gnus' own code is full of "how did we get here" full scans, I think if we look in server-alist, secondary-methods and the cache, that's as good as can be reasonably expected. I understand Gnus better now than when I originally wrote this code, so it shouldn't be too hard.
