Caveat gnusor ..time passes... In (info "(Gnus)Expiring Mail") You do not have to mark articles as expirable by hand. Gnus provides two features, called =E2=80=9Cauto-expire=E2=80=9D and =E2=80=9Ctotal-e= xpire=E2=80=9D, that can help you with this. In a nutshell, =E2=80=9Cauto-expire=E2=80=9D means that Gnu= s hits =E2=80=98E=E2=80=99 for you when you select an article. And =E2=80=9Ctotal-expire=E2=80=9D mea= ns that Gnus considers all articles as expirable that are read. So, in addition to the articles marked =E2=80=98E=E2=80=99, also the articles marked =E2= =80=98r=E2=80=99, =E2=80=98R=E2=80=99, =E2=80=98O=E2=80=99, =E2=80=98K=E2= =80=99, =E2=80=98Y=E2=80=99 (and so on) are considered expirable. =E2=80=98gnu= s-auto-expirable-marks=E2=80=99 has the full list of these marks. So I was wrong: you have to turn on 'auto-expire' or 'total-expire' for Gnus to do this. Robert
