Hi Everyone,
I am a newbie to emacs and trying to replace my old setup using
Vim. I am trying to re-creete something similar to vim.project where
I have a buffer listing all of the files I use and use this for
jumping between files.
I can see that speedbar shows all of the file in a particular
directory and ECB does the same. However I need a recursive list of
all files that I can then navigate using search.
I cant believe this doesn't exist already but I cant find it.
Thanks for your help.

See command `find-dired'.
Wrt search in Dired, see `C-h k A'.
See also this recent thread in help-gnus-emacs: "How not to list the .o files in
find-dired". The answers given there should help you too.

You might look at nav which google just released:
http://code.google.com/p/emacs-nav/
"Nav is a lightweight solution for Emacs users who want something like
TextMate's file browser, or the Eclipse project view"

Thanks, but the buffer list only shows open buffers. I am looking for
a list of all (or a subset) of the files from a directory and its sub-
directories.

Thanks everyone,
dired and find-dired seem to do exactly what I need, especially when
combined with with virtual-dired.
I had been looking through lots of add-ins and it was core
functionality.
Thanks for the help
