Ha! Indeed. Seriously, setting up a minimal Gnus that will work for mail isn't difficult at all, and should offer no problems for anyone who comes from/wants to be in the Emacs or just generally the TUI/CLI world. I think that Gnus should streamline its interface, and increase the level of automation, in particular in moving between buffers, so as for my personal experience, I put a lot of IMO "unnecessary" work into that [1]. But just speaking broadly, it's just like with Emacs in general. To start it, move point around and edit a source file, that can be mastered in 24h, especially, again, to a person who has the TUI/CLI computer personality. If you OTOH want to master Lisp, understand all of Emacs, configure it to your liking down to the tiniest detail, even write additional stuff and so on - then yes, I agree, that requires "a lot of time" :) [1] https://dataswamp.org/~incal/emacs-init/gnus/ -- underground experts united https://dataswamp.org/~incal
