Yes, this fails for me: (tramp-compat-funcall 'dbus-get-unique-name :session) But that's probably expected: I had uninstalled the package "dbus-user-session" because, well, it caused problems with user sessions (when using multiple sessions for different users at the same time). I don't need to get tramp-archive working, I only found this issue while doing other stuff. And I wanted to give some more insights here so that everybody can be sure that Michael's fix is good enough to avoid that kind of problem (I cannot estimate that). Danke soweit und Grüße, Michael.
