firefox+gemail+emacs as an external editor

Hi

Right now I am forced to use gmails webinterface, since all imap+esmtp
ports etc are blocked

I found 


https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/edit-with-emacs1/

And installed it. I open my gmail account use compose message (in plain
text  mode) click on the emacs button, but nothing happens (I checked
the emacs server is running, but it seems the package has no
configuration option for the emacsclient.

Which emacs client tells me 
/usr/local/bin/emacsclient

Which is correct.

Anybody has used this package successfully (I use emacs 29 some master
version)

That sounded interesting, so I gave it a try ... on the home page
https://github.com/stsquad/emacs_chrome they say you need an additional
MELPA package edit-server to run that beast, and with that it seems to
work.  IOW: Vanilla emacsclient is not good enough here.

There is also https://github.com/alpha22jp/atomic-chrome + Ghost 
Text
extension for Firefox. This offers bidirectional communications
emacs-firefox via a websocket, and refreshes contents in both 
sides.

I am veering off topic here but I have encountered such a situation in
numerous public libraries and other institutions.  Wouldn't a VPN get
around this in most cases?

Hah, thanks. This is of course true last time I tried, it slowed down
things, but will try again.

Aha, thanks, now it works, however when I reply to an email and call the
editor the quoted text is *not* included, annoying
