1) How can I make eshell behave like shell? Eshell seems to
ignore at least some of the statements in my .bashrc. Example: My
.bashrc contains the line

export PYTHONPATH=.:/usr/lib/python2.1:/mounts/Users/cisintern/js/Tls/Py

But unlike shell, eshell doesn't find the modules in ~/Tls/Py.

2) I would like to have the eshell jump to the prompt

(e.g. to this position: ~/Prd $ )
                                ^
when typing C-a and not to the beginning of the line

(e.g. to this position ~/Prd $)
                       ^

Eshell does not read your ~/.bashrc.

There's a bash-like `export' command, if that's what you want.

C-a is normally bound to beginning-of-line. You can use C-c C-a
(eshell-bol) instead, which is the dwim version.

Use `M-x customize-option' to change the value of
`eshell-modules-list'. Then, enable `eshell-rebind'. Then the
prompt will start behaving very much like bash.

To toggle this special prompt handling once you've enabled
eshell-rebind, use C-c M-l.

That sounds interesting. Where do I have to write such commands? Which
is their syntax? Could you give me an example?

Thanks,

Jörg

export VAR=value

You can set them in .eshell/login if you like.
