Oh boy! should be quoted, like so:
(add-hook 'lisp-mode-hook
(lambda ()
(set (make-local-variable 'lisp-indent-function)
'common-lisp-indent-function)))
I hadn't noticed before because the default value of
`lisp-indent-function' is `lisp-indent-function' !
