Hallöchen!
So far, I had set
(custom-set-variables
...
'(ispell-local-dictionary "deutsch8")
...
)
in .emacs. However, with current CVS Emacs this seems to be
ignored. Instead, it's set to nil if I check it with "C-h v". An
explicit
(setq ispell-local-dictionary "deutsch8")
at the end of .emacs restores the old behaviour though. Why is this
necessary? Has the recommended way to set the default ispell
language changed?
Tschö,
Torsten.

Why does it has to be 'local'? I use
(setq ispell-dictionary "german8")
What is your ispell-program-name?

When you look into the ChangeLogs, you'll find that there have been
some bug fixes WRT ispell recently.
Check if the problem occurs with current trunk and report it as ab bug
as described in INSTALL.CVS. gnu.emacs.help is _not_ the right
platform for unreleased versions.
Bye, Reiner.

INSTALL.CVS suggest to use emacs-pretest-bug@gnu.org rather than
gnu.emacs.help. So please, again, M-x report-emacs-bug RET.
Thank you,
Stefan
